SPJIMR Summer Placements 2026-28: 100% Placed, ₹2 Lakh Median Stipend and What It Means for Aspirants
SPJIMR has completed summer placements for its Class of 2028, and the numbers are higher across the board. The median stipend is up 17% to ₹2 lakh a month, and all 365 participants are placed. Here is what the numbers show, how to read them and what they mean if you are applying this year.
The Short Answer
All 365 students of the SPJIMR PGDM and PGDM (BM) Class of 2028 (the 2026-28 batch) have been placed, a 100% summer placement rate. The median stipend is ₹2 lakh a month, the average is ₹1.86 lakh and the highest is ₹3 lakh a month. A total of 91 companies took part, 37 of them for the first time. FMCG and consumer companies took the largest share of placements at 33.1%, followed by consulting at 23.5% and BFSI at 20.2%.
SPJIMR Summer Placements 2026-28 at a Glance
How It Compares With the Previous Batch
Two things stand out. First, the median rose faster than the average, which suggests the improvement reached the middle of the batch, not only the top. Second, 37 of the 91 companies, about 41%, were new recruiters, compared with 22 of 81, about 27%, a year earlier. A growing recruiter base means more options for students.
Which Sectors Recruited?
The top three sectors account for 76.8% of placements. FMCG leading ahead of consulting is a useful signal for marketing and operations aspirants. Our lists of the top B-schools for marketing, consulting and finance help you compare colleges by the career you want.
Who Recruited?
New recruiters this year include Amgen, Bajaj Auto, Britannia, Citi, D.E. Shaw & Co, Danone, DBS, Flipkart, IBM, IDFC FIRST Bank, Kenvue, Kotak, SKF, Warner Bros and Axis Bank, among others. The full recruiter list for the batch is longer than the new names shown here.
How to Read the Stipend Numbers
The median of ₹2 lakh a month means half the batch earned at least that. Also remember that a summer stipend is not a final salary. It is paid for a short internship at the end of the first year.
How It Compares With the Final Placements
Summer numbers are the first step. SPJIMR's Class of 2026 final placements, announced in December 2025, show where those internships lead:
Nearly half the batch had a pre-placement offer, which shows how much the summer internship can matter. Treat these as the last year's final-placement numbers, not a forecast for the Class of 2028.
How This Compares With Other Top Schools
For context, IIM Lucknow's 2026-28 batch has a median stipend of ₹1.75 lakh a month and a highest domestic stipend of ₹3.5 lakh, and IIM Calcutta's last published median was ₹2 lakh a month for the 2025-27 batch. Our posts on IIM Lucknow's summer placements and the IIM Calcutta summer internship have the details. The batches differ in size and cycle, so treat this as context and not a ranking. Our comparison of FMS vs MDI vs SPJIMR puts the three side by side.
What It Means If You Are Applying to SPJIMR
This part is our judgement.
- The form closes on 27 November. The summer numbers are encouraging, but you still need to apply. Our guide on who should apply to SPJIMR explains eligibility, selection and how academics and work experience are weighed.
- Choose your specialisation with recruiters in mind. FMCG, consulting and BFSI lead, so marketing, operations and finance have strong demand. Our guide to top MBA specialisations by background can help you decide.
- Prepare for the interview, not only CAT. SPJIMR shortlists on profile and score, so a strong story matters. See our guide to the mistakes to avoid in the last six weeks before CAT 2026.
- Plan your forms. Several forms close in the same weeks. Our calendar of MBA forms closing in November 2026 shows the full list.
What We Do Not Know Yet
- A summer report says little about final placements, so it does not predict the Class of 2028's final salaries.
- Domain-wise stipends and PPO numbers for this batch are not part of the figures above.
- The Class of 2028's final placement numbers will not be known until the next cycle.

Final Word
SPJIMR's Class of 2028 summer placements show a higher median, a broader recruiter base and 100% placement. For aspirants, the useful lessons are to look at the median and not the highest number, to match your specialisation to where recruiters are hiring, and to treat the internship as the start of your placement. Placement figures change every year, so confirm the latest numbers on SPJIMR's official website.
