Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about GRADSCALE.
General
What is GRADSCALE?
GRADSCALE is a structured daily execution platform for competitive exam aspirants. It provides daily drills, PYQ practice, prep tools, performance analytics, streak tracking and leaderboards for CAT, IPMAT, XAT and other competitive exams.
What is a Daily Target on GRADSCALE?
A Daily Target is the set number of questions per section — VARC, DILR and QA — that GRADSCALE assigns you to complete each day as part of your Daily Drills. Hitting your Daily Target consistently is what builds your streak and keeps preparation on track without relying on willpower alone.
Who is GRADSCALE built for?
GRADSCALE is built for serious aspirants preparing for MBA entrance exams (CAT, XAT, SNAP, NMAT), engineering entrance (JEE), medical entrance (NEET), government exams (SSC, Banking, Railways) and other aptitude-based competitive exams.
Who is Abhishek Leela Pandey?
Abhishek Leela Pandey is an educator and mentor who has taught thousands of aspirants preparing for CAT, IPMAT, XAT and other competitive exams. He is the founder of GradSkool and GRADSCALE.
Is GRADSCALE free?
GRADSCALE has a free tier that gives access to daily drills, PYQ practice, and basic analytics. A Pro plan is available with advanced analytics, full PYQ access, prep tools, and priority support.
How is GRADSCALE different from coaching platforms?
Coaching platforms deliver content. GRADSCALE delivers execution — daily drills, PYQ benchmarking, analytics and accountability systems. It complements your coaching rather than replacing it. You study with your coaching institute; you execute daily on GRADSCALE.
Do I need prior preparation to start?
No. Both beginners and advanced aspirants use GRADSCALE. If you're a beginner, the daily drills help you build aptitude habits from scratch. If you're advanced, the PYQs and analytics help you identify and fix weak spots.
Is GRADSCALE useful for working professionals?
Yes. Daily drills take 20–40 minutes. The fixed structure means no time wasted deciding what to study. You show up, execute, and move on. PYQ practice and Tools can be done at your own pace on weekends.
Exams & Content
Which exams does GRADSCALE currently support?
CAT 2026, IPMAT, and XAT are live with daily drills. CAT additionally has full PYQ papers and prep tools. Coming soon: GMAT, GRE, SNAP, NMAT, CMAT, JEE, NEET, SSC, Banking, Railways, UPSC CSAT and more.
How many questions are there per day?
You get one drill per section daily — typically 3–5 questions each for VARC, DILR, and QA. The exact count depends on the drill type set by the educator for that day.
Is GRADSCALE useful for CAT 2026 preparation?
Yes. GRADSCALE provides daily VARC, DILR, and QA drills, full CAT PYQ papers (year-wise and slot-wise), section-wise and topic-wise PYQ practice, and prep tools — all designed specifically for CAT aspirants.
Does GRADSCALE have TITA questions?
Yes. GRADSCALE supports both MCQ and TITA (Type In The Answer) questions. TITA questions carry no negative marking. An on-screen keyboard is available when enabled by the educator for that drill.
How are drill solutions structured?
Every question has a detailed step-by-step solution and a shortcut tip. Solutions are revealed after submitting the drill — you can't peek mid-attempt.
PYQ Practice
Which exams have PYQs on GRADSCALE, and how many years are covered?
CAT has the most complete PYQ coverage on GRADSCALE, with multiple years of full papers across VARC, DILR and Quantitative Aptitude, organised by year and exam slot. IPMAT and XAT PYQ coverage is being added on a rolling basis. The exact paper count and year range for each exam is shown on that exam's page (e.g. gradscale.in/exams/cat/) and updates as new papers are added — log in to see the live PYQ dashboard.
What are PYQs on GRADSCALE?
PYQs are actual previous year question papers organised by exam, year, and slot. You can attempt them as a full timed paper, section-wise (just VARC or DILR or QA), or topic-wise (e.g. just Reading Comprehension or just Arithmetic).
How is PYQ practice different from daily drills?
Drills are curated daily practice sets for building habits. PYQs are real exam questions for benchmarking. Drills build your daily routine; PYQs tell you how you'd actually perform in the exam.
What is Smart Mix in PYQs?
Smart Mix randomises questions across multiple years for a topic — so you're not just practising 2023's pattern repeatedly. It gives a broader, more realistic cross-year workout.
Can I attempt a PYQ paper multiple times?
By default each paper can be attempted once to preserve leaderboard integrity. You can submit a re-attempt request from the result page with a reason — the admin reviews and approves or denies it.
Can I bookmark PYQ questions?
Yes. Any question in a PYQ attempt can be bookmarked for review. All bookmarks are accessible from the PYQ dashboard.
Prep Tools
What are Prep Tools?
Prep Tools are focused skill-building resources that go beyond daily drills — RC 111 (an RC passage practice bank), GRE Vocab Forge (flashcard deck), CAT QA Formula Bank, MBA GK Flashcards and more. They're designed for deep skill work on specific areas.
When are Prep Tools launching?
Prep Tools are currently being finalised and will launch soon. All users with a Pro plan will get access. Daily drills and PYQs are fully live in the meantime.
What is RC 111?
RC 111 is a curated bank of 111 Reading Comprehension passages with questions — organised by category and difficulty. It's designed for aspirants who want structured, deep RC practice beyond what daily drills provide.
Analytics & Tracking
What does GRADSCALE track?
GRADSCALE tracks section-wise accuracy, time per question, daily streaks, leaderboard rank, weak topic identification, weekly performance trends, PYQ attempt history, and improvement over time.
What is the streak system?
Your streak increases by 1 every day you complete at least one drill. Missing a day resets it to zero. The streak system is designed to build daily preparation habits through consistency and accountability.
Why does the streak system reset on missing one day?
Because consistency is binary — you either showed up or you didn't. Research consistently shows that the pain of losing a long streak is one of the most effective behaviour change tools. A 60-day streak is worth protecting.
Is there a leaderboard?
Yes. The leaderboard shows daily and all-time streak rankings across all active aspirants. Peer competition is underrated as a preparation tool.
What is the Analytics page?
The Analytics page gives a comprehensive breakdown of your preparation — section accuracy over time, weakest topics, average time per question, PYQ performance, drill completion rate, and streak calendar.
