CAT Daily Practice: One Fixed Target, Every Single Day

Most CAT daily practice fails quietly, not because aspirants lack material, but because "study for CAT today" is too vague a task to actually start on a tired Tuesday evening. A Daily Target fixes that. Every day, GRADSCALE's Daily Drills feature hands you one specific, bounded VARC, DILR or QA set, no decision required, just execution. This is what real, sustainable CAT daily practice actually looks like, not a pile of PDFs, one clear task at a time.

The Terminology

Daily Drills vs Daily Target: What's the Difference?

The two terms describe the same system from two angles. Your Daily Target is the number and type of questions assigned for the day — say, 5 QA questions or one full RC passage. Daily Drills is the actual feature on GRADSCALE that generates and delivers that set to you. In short: the Target is what you owe today, the Drill is what you actually do to pay it.

Practically, this means opening Daily Drills each day shows you exactly one VARC, DILR or QA set — never a backlog, never a choice to make — attempting it is how you hit that day's Daily Target and keep your streak alive.

Why It Works

A Fixed Target Beats an Open-Ended Study Plan

An open-ended plan like "practice VARC today" leaves the actual decision, what to practice, how much, at what difficulty, unmade until the moment you sit down, which is exactly when motivation is lowest and decision fatigue is highest. A fixed Daily Target removes that decision entirely. You open the app, one set is waiting, you do it, you're done for the day.

This is also why Daily Targets rotate through VARC, DILR and QA independently rather than asking you to cover all three every day in a rushed twenty minutes each. One section, done properly, beats three sections done superficially.

Building an Actual Daily Practice Habit

A daily practice habit is not the same thing as good intentions. It's a specific, repeatable action taken at roughly the same time each day until it stops requiring willpower. Daily Targets are built to make that repeatable action as small and frictionless as possible, one set, one section, done, so daily practice becomes something you actually do rather than something you plan to start on Monday.

Staying Consistent

What Happens If You Miss a Day

Missing a day does not erase your progress. Your streak pauses, and GRADSCALE supports streak freezes so an occasional gap doesn't undo weeks of consistency. Past Daily Targets also remain available to attempt later, so nothing is lost, only delayed.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a CAT Daily Target? +
A CAT Daily Target is a fixed, structured practice set for VARC, DILR and QA that changes every day, so you never have to decide what to study. It replaces open-ended "study for CAT today" with a specific, bounded task you can actually finish.
What are Daily Drills? +
Daily Drills is GRADSCALE's name for this feature — the actual set of VARC, DILR or QA questions generated each day to meet that day's Daily Target. In practice, "Daily Target" describes how many questions you're assigned, and "Daily Drills" is the specific set you attempt to hit it.
What happens if I miss a day's target? +
Missing a day does not reset your progress or lock you out. Your streak pauses, but past drills remain available to attempt later. GRADSCALE also supports streak freezes so an occasional missed day does not erase consistent progress.
Is the CAT Daily Target free? +
Yes, Daily Targets on GRADSCALE are free to start, with no payment required to begin practicing VARC, DILR and QA drills daily.

Every day you get 3 drills — one each for VARC, DILR, and QA — with a time limit. Complete all 3 to maintain your streak.
Attempt all 3 drills together as a single timed exam — VARC → DILR → QA with section locks, exactly like the real CAT pattern.
Each drill can be attempted once — individually or as part of a mock, not both. This keeps your analytics clean and honest.
Yes. Both MCQ and TITA (Type In The Answer) questions are supported. TITA questions have no negative marking and include an on-screen keyboard when enabled.
