IIM Bangalore Summer Placements 2026-28: 100% Placed, ₹2 Lakh Median Stipend and Half the Offers in Consulting
IIM Bangalore has completed summer placements for its 2026-28 batch. All 608 students got offers, the median stipend is ₹2 lakh a month, and consulting took more than half of all offers. Here is what the numbers show, how they compare with last year's batch, and what they mean if you are aiming for IIM Bangalore.
The Short Answer
All 608 students in the PGP and PGPBA 2026-28 batch were placed, a 100% summer placement rate. The median stipend is ₹2 lakh a month and the average is ₹1.95 lakh a month. A total of 128 organisations recruited, about 40% of them for the first time. Consulting dominated with 308 offers, or 50.7% of the total, and Accenture Strategy alone made 123 offers. Placement week ran from 26 to 29 October 2026.
IIM Bangalore Summer Placements 2026-28 at a Glance
Which Sectors Recruited?
Consulting is more than half of all offers from just 22 firms, so the sector is highly concentrated. Finance has the widest base, with 33 firms hiring.
Who Recruited?
Accenture Strategy accounts for about one in five offers, which is why consulting looks so large. Our lists of the top B-schools for consulting, marketing and finance help you compare colleges by career.
How It Compares With the Last Batch
Three things stand out.
- The batch is slightly bigger, and everyone was still placed.
- There are fewer recruiters but more new ones. Organisations fell from 137 to 128, while the share of first-time recruiters rose from about 30% to about 40%, so the mix is changing even as the total narrows.
- Consulting grew its share, from 46% to 50.7%, so the dependence on a handful of firms rose.
Last year's stipend figures were not available to us, so the blog makes no stipend comparison.
How to Read the Stipend Numbers
At ₹2 lakh a month, the median means half the batch earned at least that. The average of ₹1.95 lakh sits just below it, so the batch is fairly evenly spread, with no extreme high offers pulling the average up. A summer stipend is also not a final salary, since it is paid for a short internship at the end of the first year.
How It Compares With Other Top Schools
IIM Calcutta's 2026-28 batch reports a median of ₹2 lakh a month and an average of ₹1.93 lakh, and SPJIMR's median is ₹2 lakh a month. IIM Lucknow's median is ₹1.75 lakh. The batches, cycles and programmes differ, so use this as context and not a ranking. What It Means If You Are Aiming for IIM Bangalore
This part is our judgement.
- Consulting is the headline. If your goal is consulting, IIM Bangalore's half-share is a strong signal. But it also means the other sectors get fewer offers, so look at the finance and technology numbers if those are your goals. See our guide to top MBA specialisations by background.
- Plan your percentile. IIM Bangalore's call range is very high for general male engineers, and women and non-engineers get diversity points. Our guides on CAT percentile vs colleges, female vs male engineer percentiles and IIM calls for OBC, EWS and SC candidates show how.
- Work experience counts. Bangalore weighs work experience more than most IIMs, so freshers should build the rest of their profile.
- Keep other options open. CAT 2026 is on 29 November, and several forms close before it. Our calendar of MBA forms closing in November 2026 shows what to fill first.
What We Do Not Know Yet
- The highest stipend has not been announced, and neither has last year's median or average for comparison.
- Domain-wise stipends and PPO numbers are not part of the figures above.
- A summer report says little about final placements, so it does not predict this batch's final salaries.

For aspirants, the lessons are to look at the median and not the highest number, to match your target sector to where recruiters are hiring, and to treat the internship as the start of your placement.
